When I was about 7 years old, I remember my father, who was musically talented with keyboards, spending many a day playing music with me on the Melodica, (a small hand-held keyboard wind piano) that's blown into like a horn, while played like a piano). It sounds similar to a harmonica or an accordion. That was the start of my love for music. My dad and I would take turns playing songs together with his old music books and having such a great time together. One day my dad surprised me and brought out a second melodica, and gave it to me for a present. It was like a dream come true for me to have my very own Melodica to play. Although, I couldn't read a note, I had to the ability to play along with him and that was the musical gift that I still appreciate to this day.
My passion has always been to play music. Now I enjoy writing songs with lyrics that tell a meaningful story. I moved to Arizona from Chicago in 2006 and became inspired to spend more time recording the collection of songs that I'ld written. I was introduced to Kevin Stratton, a professional producer from K Squared Music, who encouraged me further. Together we produced my first album "Hold Me Close".
One of the additional songs I wrote "Stand Together" was a dedication to honor the victims who survived the terrible Tucson shooting of former congresswoman Ms. Gabrielle Gifford and to honor the death of 6 others.
On the lighter side, I got up on Christmas Day and asked myself "why can't I write a Christmas song?" So I did! Its release is scheduled for October, 2014.
This year has been an exciting year as I have been officially entered as a possible nominee contender for a Grammy at the Grammy Awards for 2014 with a song I had written called "One Hundred Years" which has been accepted as a Grammy Academy nomination under their newest category of American Roots songs.
My passion is writing music with meaningful lyrics and my inspiration continues to be songs from the Beatles and related groups whose music is timeless and magical bringing happiness to the world. I am now having the time of my life playing guitars and pianos and creating songs that could help bring love and peace to all who listen, and hopefully make this world a better place.
It sends a message to the ears of the world that we all need to live in happiness and peace and "stand together".
